Takeaways from OnBoard’s newest Observers

The Onboard Program is an initiative that brings together start-up boards and talented individuals who want to learn about governance and have a drive to contribute to New Zealand's startup community. The 2023 Cohort kicked off in May with an in-person workshop.

Some of the participants shared their thoughts on what excites them about the program after their first day. Let's dive into their perspectives:

I am really excited about learning how to be a good governor of companies. The new perspectives coming from this Program will positively impact the NZ start-up economy for many years to come. The future of NZ tech is bright!
— Sophie
I am excited about the opportunity to grow my governance capability and to work with a talented cohort who are passionate about New Zealand’s startup community.
— Senja
It is clear the Kiwi startup community is really maturing - in looking at the companies the Observers work at in their day jobs, and the Host board companies - there are some really exciting businesses taking part in Onboard!
— Charlie
The element of the Program I am most excited about is the opportunity to be a Board Observer at a NZ startup that is scaling globally.
— Ruth
